Terms of use
Last updated: 25 September 2026
1. What this is
Mantel Azul is a personal, free recipe app run by Jonathan Freire, based in Germany. It is referred to below as "we". By creating an account or using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
2. No payment
The app is free and has no paid plan. Nothing here creates a subscription, and we never ask you for payment details.
3. Who can use it
You must be at least 16 years old. Give a real email address and keep your details accurate. One person, one account: do not share your credentials.
4. Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password safe. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
5. Using the app properly
Use it for what it is: recipes, cooking and meal planning. In particular, you must not:
- Break the law, or use the app to help anyone break it.
- Use the AI features, whatever the input (text, images, audio or anything else), to create, request or spread illegal content. That includes content that is hateful, defamatory, sexually exploitative, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Push the assistant towards anything outside its purpose or anything unlawful, whether through prompts, attached images or dictated audio.
- Upload content you do not have the rights to, or other people's personal data without their permission.
- Harass, threaten or impersonate anyone.
- Attack, overload or probe the service: scraping, spamming, evading limits, bulk automated requests, or trying to reach data that is not yours.
- Resell the service or pass it off as your own.
- Reverse engineer it, or work around its safeguards and approval steps.
6. Artificial intelligence
The assistant, the translations and the generated images are produced by artificial intelligence.
- The assistant is an AI system operated by Mantel Azul, not a person. The chat tells you so, and you should assume every reply is machine-generated.
- Images the assistant creates are AI-generated and are labelled as such in the app. They do not show a real dish.
- Recipe translations are generated automatically. The language you wrote a recipe in is kept as you wrote it.
AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Nutrition figures are estimates, not measurements. Nothing in the app is medical, dietary or professional advice. Check ingredients, allergens and quantities yourself before cooking or eating anything, and remember that you are the one deciding what to cook.
7. Your content
Your recipes, photos and messages remain yours. By publishing a recipe you give us permission to store it, show it to other users, translate it, index it for search, and keep it available for as long as the app runs. Recipes you publish are public: anyone can read them. Do not publish anything you want to keep private.
You are responsible for your content and for making sure it is lawful.
8. Removing content and closing accounts
We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, if these terms are broken, if the law requires it, or if the service is being abused, including misuse of the AI features. Where the breach is serious, this can happen without prior notice. You can close your account at any time from your profile.
9. Availability
The app is a personal project, offered as it is. It may change, be interrupted or be shut down. We do not promise any level of availability, that data will never be lost, or that the service will keep working. Keep your own copy of anything you care about.
10. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and in every case where the law does not allow liability to be excluded.
For simple negligence we are liable only when an essential duty of the agreement is breached, and then only for the damage that was foreseeable and typical for this kind of service. Beyond that, and because the app is free, our liability is limited to the extent the law allows.
We are not liable for content users publish, for decisions you take based on the assistant's output, or for the services of the providers listed in the privacy policy.
11. Ending these terms
You may stop using the app at any time. We may end this agreement if you break these terms or if the app is discontinued.
12. Changes
We may change these terms. If a change is significant we will announce it in the app. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new version.
13. Law and jurisdiction
German law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. The courts at our place of business have jurisdiction, unless the law gives you another.
14. Language
These terms exist in English, Spanish and German. In case of doubt, the German version prevails.
15. Severability
If one clause turns out to be invalid, the rest stays valid.
